Korman Residential introduced its first smoke-free apartments in March 2008, at Village Square in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Since then, Korman Residential has continued to meet the increasing demand for smoke-free apartments. "The residents have spoken. Many have requested smoke-free apartments and we've responded," says James Korman, President of Korman Residential Properties.
Residents living in Korman's smoke-free buildings have agreed to honor the non-smoking policy in and around their apartments. "Our smoke-free initiative offers our residents an opportunity for healthier living and an improved quality of life. That's been a touchstone at Korman for over 90 years, and we're proud to carry on that tradition," says John Korman, CEO of Korman Residential Properties.
"I applaud Korman Residential's smoke-free apartment living initiative. Korman's decision to start offering smoke-free apartments will hopefully influence other apartment management companies on the East Coast to offer smoke-free apartment buildings in their communities as well," commented Pennsylvania State Representative Gene DiGirolamo.
Smoke-Free living proponent and former fire chief of the Edington Fire Company in Bensalem, Ed Devenney said, "The Smoke-Free apartments that Korman Residential Properties introduced improve the health and welfare of the current residents and their families. As a former fire chief with 26 years of experience fighting fires and educating about fire prevention, I'm proud to support Korman Residential's smoke-free initiative."
